Carolina Rodriguez is a 2021 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent who teaches 8th grade math and science at Downtown College Prep Alum Rock Middle School in San Jose. Carolina also sponsors her campus’ Math Engineering Science Achievement club. Carolina has been awarded the STEM NOW: K-12 Promotion of STEM Education Award from San Jose State University, and has collaborated on projects for STEM education development with Girls Who Code, FabLearn, Berkeley University, Teach Plus, and Climate Solutions Net. She is currently a bargaining representative for the South Bay Educators United Teacher Union. Carolina became a teacher in order to provide hands-on learning and real-world STEM applications for students who are first generation and/or from families with low-income. She graduated from Smith College with a BA in Studio Art with a minor in mechanical engineering, and received her MEd in secondary education from Santa Clara University.
