Selina Carrera is a 2025-2026 Philadelphia Affinity Group Network Facilitator and Career and Technical Education educator at the School District of Philadelphia’s Juvenile Justice Services Center. She creates safe and brave spaces to encourage students to express themselves via audio and visual technology and developed literary-art centered socio-emotional resilience curricula intertwined with academic core instructional materials. Selina received distinctions from the Los Angeles County of Education for her implementation of music and poetry workshops through different nonprofit organizations that helped reduce recidivism rates and gang violence (2016). She presented her musical, social-emotional approaches at the Neglected & Delinquent Leadership Symposium (2019) and won the Lindback Award for Teacher of the Year (2020) after three years with her district. She earned her BA in communications from Temple University and MEd in career and technical education from Temple University.
