Erika Cedeno is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Los Angeles Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. Erika is a high school teacher, World Languages Department chair, and English Learner co-coordinator at Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California. She has taught kindergarten through junior high, helped the California Department of Education create the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress en Español, and coached cross-country and swim teams. Erika was named the 1999 Teacher of the Year in Mexico City. She started her career as an intern at Veracruz with a low-income multigrade classroom and taught 1st through 6th grades. She earned a BS in pedagogy: science of education from Universidad Autónoma de México in Mexico City. Erika holds a degree in Spanish language and linguistics, an MA in leadership and management of schools, and single-subject credential in Spanish from CTC.
