Sunny Chang Jonas is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator, and an intern and interventionist in Winfield School District 34 in Winfield, Illinois. Sunny has been a teacher, principal, and contract/consultant in Oregon, Connecticut, and Illinois. She presented on bilingual Individualized Education Program (IEP) scaffolded embryology curriculum at Googlepalooza, and consulted on teacher-effectiveness expert Charlotte Danielson’s and K-12 quantum education practices in schools in Kenya, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Sunny is certified as a classroom teacher, English as a Second Language (ESL) specialist, and building leader. She earned her BA in sociology and education from the University of Chicago, MAT in elementary and music education at Lewis and Clark College, MEd in educational leadership at Columbia University Teachers College, and EdD in bilingual education leadership at Northern Illinois University (NIU). Sunny received her doctorate in education from NIU, with fellowships at Harvard University for women in leadership and Yale University for emotional intelligences.
