DeVonna Chatman is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator. She is a 9-12 grade driver education teacher, biology co-teacher, and global studies co-teacher at Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois. DeVonna is the advisor for the Black Student Alliance and union representative for the Rockford Education Association. She previously led the school equity group and the Lifesaving Education and Awareness on Donation initiative for organ donors. DeVonna won the Best Action Research Award (2024). She earned a BA in criminal justice management from Judson University, MA in special education and MA in English as a second language from Grand Canyon University, and MA in urban education from Rockford University.
