Christine Chiu is a Teach Plus Los Angeles Teaching Policy Fellow. Christine is a 1st grade English teacher at Broadway Elementary’s Mandarin dual Immersion program, where she serves as a grade level chair and writing curriculum trainer. She was awarded the Mandarin Excellence Initiative Best Practice award and grant to develop a Mandarin cultural and historical curriculum for dual immersions. Formerly, Christine was a founding teacher’s assistant turned long-term substitute at Citizens of the World Charter School in Silver Lake/Echo Park for a 2nd and 3rd grade combination class. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a BA in Psychology and Education and MEd through UCLA’s Teacher Education Program.
