Chanmi Chun is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. She serves as Student Support Specialist at George Shirakawa Sr. Elementary School in San Jose, California, where she specializes in reading intervention for K-3 students. She has presented at conferences such as the International Literacy Association, California Mathematics Council, and Computer Using Educations (CUE). She has completed Orton-Gillingham training and is pursuing Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) certification. She is a Level 2 Google Certified Educator and certified in Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) and Cognitive Coaching. Chanmi served on California Department of Education’s inaugural Parent Advisory Council and is a founding member of the Reading League, California Chapter. She earned her BS in elementary education at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, MEd in instructional leadership and reading specialist certification from University of Illinois Chicago, and an MEd in educational leadership and administrative credential from American College of Education.
