Colleen is a Kindergarten (K2) teacher in an inclusive classroom at the Lee Academy Pilot School in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she taught kindergarten in a dual language program at the Dever-McCormack K-8 School. Her licenses include, Early Childhood, PreK-2, English as a Second Language and Moderate Disabilities, K-8. Colleen insists that focusing on having high standards for both students and teachers will help close the achievement gap. Recently, along with two of her colleagues, Colleen was awarded a Professional Learning Grant, by the Boston Teachers Union, to present effective strategies on how to create safe and supportive classrooms for all learners. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two sons, who are both college students. Colleen earned her B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, and is currently a student there in the Master of Education Program: Moderate Disabilities (K-8).
