Eric Colwell is a 2023-2024 Michigan Teacher Leadership Collaborative Member and a 9th grade ELA teacher at Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Michigan. He focuses on helping other educators increase the level of cultural responsiveness in their curriculum, and on helping historically disadvantaged students improve their literacy through concentrated initiatives in independent reading and small group instruction. Eric was previously a history teacher in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his BA in English and secondary education from Oakland University, and is currently completing an MA in teacher leadership at Mount Holyoke College.
