Coral Zayas is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Ready to Lead Fellow and a 2018-2019 Texas Policy Fellow. She teaches 5th grade bilingual at TA Brown Elementary in Austin ISD, where she is the lead science teacher for the grade level. She leads on campus by being a new-teacher mentor, AVID Site Team member, and the Campus Innovation Connector, a role that lets her work with the district technology design team to help implement blended and personalized learning throughout the campus. She has been a bilingual elementary teacher since 2013, and formerly taught at the high school and college levels. She has held numerous leadership roles throughout the years, including department head and a member of the district curriculum writing team when in Crowley ISD. She was Teacher of the Year for 2017-2018, and has been recognized by multiple tech companies, including Nearpod, Microsoft and Apple. Coral holds a BA in International Studies from Elon University and is pursuing her MS in Education through Purdue University’s Learning Design and Technology program.
