Dan Hartman is a 2019-2020 Teach Plus Illinois ILSTOY Teaching Policy Fellow and a 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year Finalist. Dan is a 5th grade teacher at Dubois Elementary school, where he serves as the ILT (Instructor-led Training) chairperson and science lead for his colleagues. Dan helped start the Dubois Elementary STEAM Team and has served alongside his principal and colleagues to help drive this vision for the school. Dan serves on the NSTA’s (National Science Teaching Association) Urban Science Education Advisory Board. He has been recognized as an Educator of the Year Finalist for Springfield Public School District 186 (2019), was nominated by students for Love Deliverance Church Teacher Appreciation Program (2018 and 2019), and was selected as a Rising Star award recipient for Springfield Public School District 186 (2016). Dan received his BA in Science from Millikin University and is currently working toward his MA in STEM Curriculum and Leadership through NASA and Adams State University.
