David Jones is a Teach Plus Greater Boston Teaching Policy Fellow. He is a humanities teacher in a competency-based alternative public school at Boston Day and Evening Academy (BDEA) in Roxbury, Massachusetts, where he serves on the instructional leadership team as the history department head and coordinates a mentorship program with alumni and incoming students to inspire them to realize their leadership potential. In 2015, David was selected to lead a group of Dudley Promise Americorps Fellows to the first Male Educators of Color Symposium hosted by the Department of Education. David came to teaching after a round of policy internships with a member of Congress in the District of Columbia and the Governor’s office in Topeka, Kansas. David earned a BA from University of Kansas and an MEd from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, through a partnership with the Boston Teacher Residency.
