David McGuire is a Teach Plus Indianapolis Teaching Policy Fellow. David teaches 7th and 8th grade reading at Pike Preparatory Academy, where he also teaches a life skills course geared towards helping young boys grow into young men with a purpose. David is a member of the National Alliance of Black School Educators and Indianapolis Urban League Exchange Young Professionals where he focuses on committees geared towards education. He previously taught English and college career readiness and served as middle school dean of students at Thomas Carr Howe Community High School. David became a teacher to inspire more minority males to consider teaching as a career option. He graduated from Central State University with a BA in English and received his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and Building Level Administration License from Marian University.
