Miketa Davis-Smith is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and is the Lead Exceptional Education Teacher at Lanier High School in Jackson. Miketa focuses on inclusive education to address the learning needs of all children, with a specific focus on those vulnerable to marginalization and exclusion. She is a member of the school’s Leadership Team and the JPS Mentor-Mentee Program for new teachers. Miketa was named Teacher of the Month in April 2019, January 2020, and March 2021. Miketa is currently pursuing her National Board Certification, in the area of Exceptional Needs, through the TIME Initiative with Jackson Public School District. Miketa has her BS in Special Education, MS in Special Education and Educational Leadership, and EdS in Psychometry. And she recently received her 2nd Masters’ Degree in Educational Leadership all from Jackson State University.
