Deanne Hicks is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Nevada Senior Policy Fellow and a 4th grade teacher at a rural elementary school on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation in Wadsworth. Deanne is the 2022 Nevada Teacher of the Year and has taught grade levels K-6, served as a literacy coach, and is an Understood Alumni Fellow. Deanne is a National Board Certified teacher in Literacy. Deanne has collaborated with the Nevada Regional Professional Development Programs to design and implement a state-wide collaborative book study. As a Teach Plus Fellow, Deanne was a member of the Teach Plus NEPF working group which partnered with the Teachers and Leaders Council to successfully pass Nevada SB475 during the 2019 legislative session. Deanne earned her BS in Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an MEd from Lesley College.
