Derrick Belanger is a Teach Plus Colorado Teaching Policy Fellow. He teaches 7th grade special education at Century Middle School in Thornton, Colorado. Derrick is a member of the district’s Middle School English Language Arts Curriculum Advisory Committee and the 2e Project Cohort Group, which advocates on behalf of the district’s twice-exceptional students. Derrick has previously taught language arts at the middle school, high school, and university level and has been published in Gifted Child Today and The Colorado Reading Journal. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English Teaching and an MAT in Secondary Education.
