Lorena Ellis is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow and a 5th grade teacher at Murray Elementary in Azusa, California. She serves as a site coordinator for the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) after school program and is a student leadership advisor. Lorena was selected by the California Department of Education to participate on the Comprehensive State Literacy Plan (CSLP) Team and invited to be part of the SCOE (Sacramento County of Education) ELPAC team as an item reviewer. Lorena began her 22 year teaching career as a bilingual teacher and has since taught various grades between 1st and 5th. She graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a BA in Liberal Studies and received her MEd in Educational Leadership and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from Azusa Pacific University.
