Emily Banta is a Teach Plus Greater Boston Teaching Policy Fellow. She is a 2nd grade SEI teacher at the Lawrence Family Development Charter School in Lawrence, MA, where she is a member of her school’s SEI team, focusing on finding best Sheltered English strategies to share with colleagues. Emily came to teaching through Teach for America after tutoring students in the District of Columbia’s Public Schools. She is dual-certified in English as a Second Language and Elementary Education and has taught a course at Boston University focused on teaching English Language Learners in middle and high school. Emily earned a BA from Georgetown University, and an MEd from Boston University.
