Emily Berman is a Teach Plus Rhode Island Teaching Policy Fellow and a 9th grade biology and 10th grade chemistry teacher at Blackstone Academy Charter School in Pawtucket. Previously, she taught 7th and 8th grade chemistry and physics at The Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. She has taught an after-school science enrichment program to elementary school students in Middletown, Connecticut; a service-learning course to students at Wesleyan University; and English to 4th and 5th graders in Canoa, Ecuador. Emily is a 2015 recipient of the Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship (KSTF), a five-year fellowship dedicated to supporting STEM teachers. Emily also has been selected to present at the 2017 National Science Teachers Association’s (NSTA) national conference, and the 2017 Education for Liberation Network’s Free Minds Free People (FMFP) national conference. She holds a BA in neuroscience and behavior and a BA in psychology from Wesleyan University, and an MAT in secondary science education from Brown University.
