Emily Leinss is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Change Agent Teacher Leader. Emily is a literacy teacher at Piccolo School of Excellence in Chicago Public Schools, where she collaborates with classroom teachers to facilitate small group reading intervention, maintains a school library, and instructs a literacy specials class. She serves on her school’s instructional leadership team as the lead literacy teacher for 4th-8th grade. She also leads a student leadership “Teaching Assistant” program for middle school students. She previously taught 7th grade English language arts for three years at Piccolo School of Excellence, and middle school literacy in Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in History, a BS in Elementary Education, and an MEd in Elementary Education.
