Calvin Epps is a 2026 Teach Plus National Teacher Policy Cabinet Member and a Special Education Algebra instructor at Englewood STEM High School in Chicago, Illinois. He serves as the Senior Grade Level Lead and is a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team.

Prior to his current role, Calvin taught language arts, science, and writer’s workshop at the middle school level. He began his teaching career in Houston, Texas, as a 2009 Teach For America corps member and has taught a range of subjects, from science to writing, both domestically and internationally.

In addition to his classroom work, Calvin was a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and serves on the Alumni Council for the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

He earned his BA in Journalism from Syracuse University and his MEd in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
