Eric Hale is a 2018-19 Teach Plus DFW Policy Fellow. Erin is a kinder and 1st grade self-contained teacher at David. G. Burnet Elementary in Dallas Independent School District. In 2015, Eric was named a Distinguished Teacher(Exemplary) for ranking in the top 1% in district-wide teacher performance and was later recognized among his peers as Teacher of the Year. In 2016, he was a top 10 finalist for the prestigious Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice, which spotlights public school teachers who demonstrate exceptionally effective teaching with students from high-poverty communities. He was one of twelve teachers selected statewide to participate in Governor Abbott’s inaugural class of teachers charged with identifying and proposing solutions for challenges facing Texas educators. Eric serves on Dallas ISD’s committee for the Next Generation Teacher Evaluation Project and serves as a Distinguished Teacher Ambassador for the Thomas Jefferson Feeder pattern, representing greater than 2,000 fellow educators. Eric was invited by Teaching Trust to present at their prestigious annual Leading to Impact Summit 2018 and was chosen to be the surprise guest speaker at the Commit 2018 Score Card release. Eric was honored by the Dallas Mavericks as a finalist for the Classroom Champions in 2018 and coached the first ever Dallas ISD Amazing Shake Competition Champion awarded in June 2018. He graduated from Wright State University with a BS in Organizational Leadership and MEd in Education Administration at Texas A&M Commerce.
