Dr. Donna L. Ervin is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Senior Policy Fellow. She is a 5th grade teacher leader at Miller African Centered Academy in Pittsburgh. Donna believes that culturally relevant pedagogy is a key in building a healthy climate and culture in the classroom where all students can thrive. She began her teaching career at Miller African Centered Academy in 2004. Donna was promoted to several leadership positions from 2011 to 2024 and now is taking on a new role as a fifth grade English language arts teacher at her school. She is certified in numerous behavior initiatives, such as Equity, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS,) and Restorative Practices. She earned her BA in communication from Chatham University, MAT in education from the University of Pittsburgh, and PhD. in instructional management and leadership from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.
