Amanda Escheman is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. Amanda is a 7th and 8th grade humanities teacher and the Gay-Straight Alliance sponsor at Cherry Creek Challenge School in Aurora, Colorado. She is a member of the school’s equity team and helps to develop professional development opportunities. Before joining the faculty at Challenge, Amanda taught high school social studies, high school English, and 7th grade social studies. She began her career in education as the head forensics coach at Longmont High School. Amanda was elected and served on the Board of Directors of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association and currently serves as the Colorado Ambassador for the News Literacy Project. She earned her BA in philosophy with a minor in religious studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, an MA in education and human development from the University of Colorado at Denver, and is a PhD student in critical studies in education at CU Denver.
