Fanisha Johnson is a 2020-21 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow. She is a kindergarten teacher at Tunica Elementary in Tunica, Mississippi where she has worked her entire career of 13 years. She teaches all subjects and focuses on preparing her students to become readers and writers as they work to prepare for first grade. Fanisha has served as grade chair and a member of her school’s leadership team. She’s also provided professional development to teacher colleagues. Fanisha was recognized for her students’ academic performance on a state assessment as a third grade English Language Arts teacher. Fanisha also received Superintendent recognition for her students’ academic performance on STAR Early Literacy. She earned her BS in Elementary Education from Jackson State University, MEd in Teaching Literacy and Language from Kaplan University, and EdS in Educational Leadership and Administration from Walden University.
