Gene Fashaw is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Colorado Senior Policy Fellow and 8th grade mathematics teacher at High Point Academy in Aurora, Colorado. He serves as head coach for the boys basketball team and leads community youth athletics as head coach for the Lady Blackhawks and Club Godspeed basketball programs. Gene is an active Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEAM) leader in the Denver metro area and previously coached two Amateur Athletic Union basketball teams. He received the Children’s Champion Award (2024) and the Denver Urban Spectrum Award (2023). Gene earned a BA in business administration from Morehouse College, an MAT from Relay Graduate School of Education, and is pursuing a graduate certificate in educational leadership and policy studies at the University of Denver.
