Gabrielle Begay is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow. Gabrielle is a 2nd grade teacher, and an alumna of Leading Educators through Alternative Pathways (LEAP) at Hurley Elementary in Hurley, New Mexico. She focuses on teaching children about cultural diversity, civic and political roles, and the importance of literacy. She previously taught kindergarten at Central Elementary School. Gabrielle was appointed to the Commission on the Status of Women and is a member of the local Little League board in the community that she teaches. She earned her BAS in Criminal Justice in the area of corrections from Western New Mexico University, Silver City and an M.S. Ed in Teaching and learning from University of the Southwest, Hobbs.
