Mariano Garcia is a returning 2024-2025 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow. She teaches special education in grades K-2 and all subjects at Garfield Elementary School in Houston, Texas. Throughout his 19-year teaching career, Mariano has taught K-4 grades, been the Team Leader for Special Education, and Manager for Extended School Year Services for Special Education Students. He has been named Teacher of the Year. Mariano has a BA in political science with a minor in Mexican American studies from University of Houston and MEd, with Principal and Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) certifications, from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
