Mariano Garcia is a 2023-24 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow. Mariano teaches Special Education for Kindergarten – 2nd Grade and all subjects at Garfield Elementary in Houston, Texas. He has taught Kindergarten – 4th Grade. Mariano has been the Team Leader for Special Education and has also been the Manager for Extended School Year Services for Special Education Students. He has been named Teacher of the Year. Mariano started his nineteenth year in education. He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Mexican-American Studies and received his MEd with Principal and PDAS Certification from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
