Erica Garcia-Ochoa is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. Erica is a 6th grade dual language teacher at Dolores Huerta International Academy in Fontana, California. Her goals as a teacher include empowering students to think critically, fostering pride in who they are, and promoting social justice. Erica began her career teaching social studies at the middle and high school level. Erica is involved in her church community, hosts the American Sign Language club at her school, and is a co-leader of a girl scout troop. Erica was awarded Teacher of the Year for her school. She earned a BA in political studies and in Latin American studies at the University of California, San Diego. She received her MEd in curriculum and instruction from California State University, San Bernardino.
