Ellen Gelman is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Colorado Charter Policy Fellow, and high school literacy interventionist and 10th grade lead at Rocky Mountain Prep SMART in Denver. She is one of the first teachers in her network to pilot the Reading Academy and her first year at Rocky Mountain Prep her students achieved an average of three years of reading growth. Ellen has also taught 1st grade and been a grades 3-5 Title I literacy interventionist. She piloted the 95% Group Science of Reading curriculum and became the first American educator to implement the Amira Learning AI reading tutor with high schoolers. Ellen has mentored new teachers in the science of reading while providing foundational literacy instruction and support across grades 1-12. She earned a BA in gender studies and elementary education certification from the University of Colorado Boulder and MS in reading education from Barry University.
