Elise Ghitman is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow and 10th grade teacher leader at Del Mar High School in San Jose, California. She teaches English Language Development and sophomore English language arts so students develop a love of language and a sense of pride in themselves. Elise began her teaching career as a 7th grade English teacher in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and then taught at DCP El Camino Middle School in San Jose for two years. Elise is a Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent Network alumna (2024-2025), was a college essay tutor for Flex College Prep, and served as Course Instructor for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. She earned a BA in comparative world literature from Smith College, MEd from the University of San Francisco, and is currently pursuing her National Board Certification.
