Gina Desir is a is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Commonwealth Senior Policy Fellow. She is an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at the Thomas J. Kenny School in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Gina began teaching in the Boston Public Schools in 2012 and has previously taught in New Jersey and in Somerville, Massachusetts. She is Boston Teachers Union Representative and serves on the operational leadership team to support aligning the environment to the school’s goals and mission. Her love for teaching began at a young age when her family stressed the importance of school and education. Gina earned a BA in Education and Sociology from the College of St. Elizabeth and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
