Chelsea Granillo is a 2024-2026 Teach Plus New Mexico Advocacy Fellow and 1st grade teacher at Vista Grande Elementary School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She provides students an equal opportunity to learn how to read and write through science-based lessons in phonics and phonemic awareness to help prepare them for college and career-ready standards. Chelsea is a Student Assistance Team (SAT) 1st grade leader and her school’s National Board of Certified Teachers (NBCT) mentor. She has also served as 1st grade team leader. Chelsea was a Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow (2022-2023) and Teach Plus New Mexico Alumni Policy Fellow (2023-2024). She began her teaching career in Tucson, Arizona, 12 years ago. In 2017, Chelsea became a NBCT in language arts. She has a BA in early childhood education from the University of Arizona and MEd in early childhood education with an endorsement in reading from Northern Arizona University.
