Latreal Hayden

Latreal Hayden is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Arkansas & Mississippi Policy Fellow and lower elementary lead teacher at the Mississippi Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in Jackson, Mississippi. She supports instructional planning, literacy practices, and professional learning. Latreal previously taught English language arts in Jackson Public Schools for nearly two decades, serving as a team lead at Chastain Middle School and professional development facilitator at Callaway High School. She was named Chastain Middle School Teacher of the Year (2019–2020), recognized for achieving the highest English II growth among the Promising 25% on the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (2025), and honored as Mississippi School for the Blind Teacher of the Month (2025). Latreal earned a BA in mass communications from Alcorn State University, MA in teaching from Mississippi College, and EdS in secondary education from Mississippi State University. She is pursuing an EdD in educational leadership at William Carey University.
