Gabriel Hernandez is a 9th grade Algebra 1 teacher, chess coach, and math department chair at North Dallas High School in Dallas, TX. He focuses on fighting for racial equity on campus, especially for Black and Latino students. He specializes in culturally relevant pedagogy and student-teacher relationships that foster academic growth and social awareness. He taught 6th grade math for 3 years at ACE Campus T.J. Rusk Middle School before transitioning to North Dallas. Gabriel is an Urban Leaders Fellow (2021) and an Urban Teachers Graduate (2022). Gabriel began his teaching career in Dallas in 2018 as an Urban Teachers Resident and has since worked at High Priority Campuses to improve student outcomes. He earned his BS in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University and his MS in Secondary Math Education from Stanford University. He holds credentials in Math, Bilingual, and Special Education for grades 6-12.
