Katie Hickey is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. She is an 11th and 12th grade Advanced Placement English and concurrent enrollment teacher at DSST: Cedar High School in Denver. Katie serves as an instructional leader and journalism mentor. A founding faculty member of DSST: Cedar Middle School and DSST: Cedar High School, she previously taught 7-12 grade English language arts. Katie was named DSST’s Flower Person (2017), DSST Lead Teacher (2019), and the Colorado Avalanche’s Most Valuable Teacher (2022). She earned a BA in English from Kenyon College, an MA in teaching secondary education from National Louis University, and an MA in English literature from the University of Edinburgh.
