Suly Hilario is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. Suly is a founding 2nd grade teacher at KIPP Poder in Montebello, California. Suly is grade-level lead and specializes as the reading content lead for the team. Suly believes that education can help make our world more equitable and hopes to empower her students to become advocates for themselves and their community. Suly is a mentor for the Alder GSE program that supports upcoming teachers in a residency program. Suly began her teaching career in Dallas as a Teach for America corps member and recently received her National Board Certification in middle childhood. Suly received her BS in political science with a minor in international politics from California State Fullerton. She graduated from the teacher education program at Southern Methodist University with her teaching credential and MEd in bilingual education.
