Hillary Smith is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Texas Houston ISD Policy Fellow who teaches 4th grade English Language Arts at DeAnda Elementary School in Houston. Hillary previously taught 5th grade ELA and served as a mentor and instructional coach. In 2016 Hillary was named the Houston ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year, and in 2017 she was awarded the Kinder Foundation Excellence in Teaching award. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BA in History and Spanish and received her MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona.
