Obinna Ibeh is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Texas Senior Policy Fellow and 5th grade dual language science teacher at Elrod Elementary in Houston. He teaches English and science to emergent bilingual students using culturally responsive strategies. Obinna has served as a mentor teacher, lead science planner, and grade-level lead. He was named Elrod English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher of the Year (2021–2022 and 2023–2024) and received the iEducate Outstanding Mentor Teacher Award (2024). Obinna began his educational career in 2014 at the Children’s Museum of Houston and later became an Outreach Coordinator Specialist, managing a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program across more than 100 YMCA sites. In addition, he was elected to the District Advisory Committee. Obinna earned a BS in biology and MEd in curriculum and instruction, with a Bilingual/ESL specialization, both from the University of Houston.
