Jamie Avalos is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow who teaches physics at O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, where she promotes high-quality science instruction through continuing education and leadership. Jamie has been a classroom teacher in Texas and in Japan for more than 10 years. She leads workshops in science instructional practices and has been a prolific grant-writer, with over $55,000 in awards for classroom technology from organizations including the Toshiba America Foundation, American Electric Power, and the Texas Education Agency. Jamie holds a BS in Microbiology from Texas A&M University and an MS in Physics with Teaching Emphasis from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
