Gemma Jáuregui is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. Gemma is a middle school teacher and the TK-8 literacy coach at The Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS), a dual-language immersion charter school. With an extensive career spanning 17 years at LAS, Gemma has continually demonstrated her leadership skills by spearheading diverse committees dedicated to advancing research-based literacy practices within the classroom. Gemma was recently selected as the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) Sacramento County Teacher of the Year. Gemma has a BA and teaching credential from California State University Sacramento and is currently pursuing her MA from CSU Sacramento in language and literacy.
