Jessica Mathias is a Teach Plus Rhode Island Teaching Policy Fellow. She teaches general music and digital music production at Winman Junior High in Warwick. Jessica is certified in music education Pre-K-12 and has extensive experience in arts integration, STEAM education, and curriculum development. Jessica was a member of the Rhode Island Department of Education Teacher Resource Summit Team, working to create and share standards-aligned resources throughout the state. She is developing a new music curriculum as a member of the district curriculum team. She has presented at the National Association for Music Education National Conference, discussing the need for non-traditional music ensembles as a way to reach more students and encourage growth in music education. Jessica earned her BA in music education from Florida State University, and her MS in teaching and learning with a concentration in brain-based teaching with Nova Southeastern University.
