Wendy Johnson is a 2022-2023 Michigan Collaborative Teacher Leader and a science teacher at the East Kentwood Freshman Campus near Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has led the science department in developing a biology and physics course taken by all 9th graders and is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. She was a teacher leader in the AP Biology Leadership Academy sponsored by the National Association of Biology Teachers and BSCS Science Learning. Wendy received the Michigan Outstanding Biology Teacher Award (2020) from the National Association of Biology Teachers. Her work was published in multiple education journals and teacher resources. Wendy was the lead author on a book chapter addressing effective teaching and learning about climate change. She earned her BA in Biology Education from Hope College, an MS in Biological Sciences from Michigan State University, and a dual PhD in Curriculum & Instruction and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology also from MSU.
