Savena Joiner is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a K-5th grade learning behavior specialist at Scott Elementary in Naperville, Illinois. She focuses on student growth in the areas of reading and math and is a key member of the District 203 Bridges Math intervention training team to support staff with properly using math intervention resources. She has previously taught 3rd-5th grades and served on the 5th grade instructional leadership team. Savena has served on district equity committees, district curriculum planning teams for social studies and ELA, and is her building union rep. She earned her BA in English literature from the University of Illinois and her MA in teaching from National Louis University. She also obtained her learning behavior specialist endorsement from National Louis University. Savena’s endorsements include PEL K-5th grade, PEL English 9-12th grade, and LBS1.
