Jose Rivas is a 2021 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent who teaches AP physics, electronics, and product development to 11th and 12th graders at Lennox Academy in Lennox. Jose is the mentor and advisor for several STEM teams that include Solar Boat, the architecture team, and Exploravision. He is also a member of the school’s Universal Design for Learning Implementation team. Jose serves on the Infiniscope Advisory Board in partnership with NASA and ASU, and is a Science Friday Educator Collaborator for a national radio program. In 2016, Jose received the Northrop Excellence in Engineering Education Award and was honored in 2019 in Washington, D.C. for receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching. Jose holds a BS in mechanical engineering, MA in secondary education, and is a certified transformational teacher leader from Loyola Marymount University.
