Sara Juarez-Mendoza is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. Sara is a 10th and 11th grade resource specialist (RSP) teacher at Alliance M. Margaret Bloomfield High School in Huntington Park, California. She focuses on teaching English language arts through a co-teaching model in order to promote accessibility and inclusivity within the classroom for students with disabilities. Her role as an RSP teacher has led her to gaining experience in case management and collaborating with teachers, families, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure an equitable learning experience for students with disabilities. She has also co-advised her former school site’s LGBTQIA+ Club. Sara began her teaching career in Los Angeles as a Teach for America corps member and RSP teacher and has since taught 9th-12th grades. She earned her BA in psychology and studio art from Franklin & Marshall College, and an MA in special education and special education credential from Loyola Marymount University.
