Julija Zubac is a social science teacher at Locke College Prep Academy C, in South Los Angeles. Named one of “30 Under 30 Innovative Educators” by Splash Life Magazine in 2011, Julija is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team with Green Dot Public Schools and was named a model teacher during her time at El Monte Union High School District. As a member of the Politics and Pedagogy Collective based at Roosevelt High School, she works with other educators to organize East Side Stories, an annual, student-led social justice conference that showcases student research and activism across the city. A native of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Julija was educated in three countries and is fluent in four languages. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (BA, political science) and Claremont Graduate University (MA, education).
