Kalimah Rahim teaches English at New Mission High School in Hyde Park. Previous to her tenure at NMHS, she worked for three years at the Boston Plan for Excellence. There she was trained in data-driven instructional coaching and worked with BPS Middle School ELA teachers, Headmasters and school teams, to increase student performance and develop grade level benchmarks designed to evaluate the effectiveness of cycle-of-inquiry interventions. For the past five years she has provided accessible measurable teaching strategies that have resulted in qualifying scores for 11th grade AP Language and Composition students, and for 10th grade students taking the MCAS. She articulated those beliefs through grant writing and in 2012 the school was awarded the EdVestors prestigious $100K Thomas W. Payzant School on the Move Prize. She earned her B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art, a M.Ed. from Wheelock College, and is currently completing a M.A. in English Literature from UMASS Boston.
