Lucy Kaplan is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and 7th-grade English language arts teacher at Northwest Jackson International Baccalaureate Middle in Jackson, Mississippi. She leads her students in rigorous reading and writing, as well as oversees the 7th grade team. Lucy began her teaching career as a 2014-2015 City Year corps member in Little Rock, and has also taught grades 7-8 English. She was named her school’s Teacher of the Year (2024-2025), and her students achieved the highest Mississippi Academic Assessment Program proficiency in the state (2021-2022 and 2023-2024). Lucy earned her BA in education justice from Millsaps College.
